Passport Application in the Philippines (First Timer)

Do you want to travel the world? Do your agency require you to have a passport when applying for a job abroad? Your dream will be easy if you have your passport.

To start with, wherever country you go, their embassy will be needing your passport as FOID (form of Identification). So you may want to apply for your passport.

Before applying please take note of the following reminders:
  1. Personal appearance is required for all applicants.
  2. Confirmed appointment is required for all applicants except senior citizens, infants and minors below 1 year old, person with disability and OFWs. For OFWs, sufficient proof must be submitted such as a valid employment contract or OEC.
  3. Earrings and contact lenses are not allowed during data capturing. Smiling with visible teeth is also not allowed.
  4. Check all the data in the computer monitor and in the Enrolment Certificate before signing it.
  5. Only immediate family members are allowed to get the passport in behalf of the applicant. Immediate family members include father, mother, brother, sister, spouse and children of legal age.
  6. Passport shall be released to an immediate family member only with proper authorization letter. Passport of a minor applicant shall be released to parents only or to an authorized representative with Special Power of Attorney and Affidavit of Support and Consent.
  7. Passports unclaimed after six (6) months will be cancelled per Department Order No. 37-03.
  8. Check all data in the received e-passport upon release.
  9. Number of processing days may vary depending on the location of the Regional Consular Office where the application was filed.
  10. The Department may require additional supporting documents as may be necessary, especially for applicants with dual citizenship and with foreignsounding family names to prove citizenship.

If you think that you can do all of those listed above and you have all the needed requirements, so you may now apply for a passport.

Here's how:

Ofcourse before you go directly to any branches of DFA, you need first to set an appointment with them. How?

A. Phone Call. Call their hotline (737-1000).

What to expect when you call them?
  1. Your call will be received by a Customer Care Officer who will assist you in setting an appointment for your passport application.
  2. After getting your appointment schedule, you will be asked to provide your personal information for the passport application.
  3. You will be advised on the applicable requirements you need to bring for your passport application.
  4. You will receive a reference number relative to your appointment schedule.
  5. Go to passport.com.ph/print to print your application form using the Print Code given by the Customer Care Officer.
B. Online Application. (www.passport.com.ph)

What to expect when you do it online?
  1. You will be asked to provide your personal information for the passport application on the online application form. Remember to fill in all the information slots correctly.
  2. Please take note of the requirements that you need to bring to the DFA Consular Office on your appointment date.
  3. Choose an appointment DATE and TIME.
  4. Check your email for your reference number and a link to print your application form. You will need to bring the printed application form to the DFA on your appointment.
After getting an appointment, all you have to do is to wait for your appointment date.

Make sure to print out the Appointment Form and bring all necessary documents.

On the day of your appointment, here's what you're going to do:

1. Proceed to your respective branch where you have set your appointment.

    2. Present your printed application form to the Appointment Counter.
    3. Get your queue number at the Information Counter and sit on the waiting section of the Processing Area. Wait for your queue number to appear on the monitor indicating what processing window you will go to.


    4. After processing, proceed to the Passport Enrollment Section located at the 2nd Floor. Pay the applicable passport processing fees (see passport fees).


    5. After payment, proceed to the Encoding Section for data capturing.


    6. That's it!
    7. For your convenience, you may have your passport delivered. When doing so, proceed to the Delivery Counter to pay for a fee.
